Normally adept readers......and writers.....realize this intuitively even if
they've never given the matter much thought. Things like this are
controversial only among those who don't have enough to do.

Another problem is that you're using up all the dots.

Should roff displayed on a T-shirt read R.O.F.F. or R.O.F.F ?

ROFF makes sense, as does R.O.F.F. What's the argument for R.O.F.F ?

As I recall, Steve Zimmerman pointed out to Wayno that the dots
delineated the division between Usenet hierarchies. When written
out it's rec.outdoors.fishing.fly , you see, no dot after fly.

Thanks for clearing that up for us, but an argument about the design
on a roff T-shirt is a damn sight more interesting than some of the
other crap we argue about around here.

But you all go ahead and argue away without me, I'm just about out
the door headin' for the Minnesota micro-Clave. See ya back here on
Wednesday or thereabouts.

Well, it seems obvious what a ROFF (or roff) t-shirt ought to say:

"I'M WITH
STUPID
/|\
|
----------"

and for family members (note to wayno - lil' wayno's emporium may have
the idea gratis):

"My flyfishing neocon liberal commie fascist reactionary bigoted
yuppie white-trash pretentious Republican Democrat Labour Tory
Socialist Conservative loony moronic imbecilic foolish naive drunk
stoned off-their-meds tinfoil-hat-wearing gun-totin' anti-gun
warmongerin' pacifist of a father, mother, grandfather, etc.went to
a 'clave and all I got was this damned T-shirt...and they can't even
decide if it's spelled right..."

Well, when you get back, you be sure to let us know why you argue about
things that don't interest you, o.k.?
