Default Pike fishing at night

Is it worth fishing for Pike at night? I'v dedicated a good few hours
to it now and despite trying various methods have not landed a single
fish. In fact i don't think i'v had a liner or a bleep. My successes
with Pike have come at dawn or dusk but these short winter days means i
can only get to the water after dark. If anyone has had serial
successes with night fishing can they let me know how they do it or
what i should try. Many Thanks in advance Dave

I have fished live and dead baits for many years while Eel fishing at night
and I've only ever had two Pike during darkness... forget it it really is
not worth it!

Well done for trying it - it's always worth experimenting just in case,
but:

They're sight and sound feeders - take a look at the eye placement, they're
used to attacking by sight. A noisy spinner does work in turbid floodwater
but even there I assume the fish home in by sound and finally attack when
they get a close-quarters glimpse of the lure.

It might just be worth spinning in the dark or, where permitted,
livebaiting: I'd guess that even then moonlight would be a major factor.

A useful tactic (I've never done this so call it educated guessing.) might
be to fish for other species by night and collect a keepnet full. A keepnet
full of roach or bream is far better than any groundbait for pike - then
fish close by the net at first light to pick up any that have crept close in
the dark ready for a dawn attack.

Cheerio,

When fishing by Moonlight always suspend your baits high in the water so
that they can be seen from below.
