Of course, I have never met any of them face to face :-)

I'm from North (west) IL and would be more pleased to catch a 5 lb.
bass from my "home waters" than any 15+ lb hawg down south. Of
course, that may all change if I ever actually accomplish either one.

Where in NW IL are you. I have property at Woodhaven Lakes in Lee county
(will be there this Saturday) and have fished the Rock, Franklin Creek, the
Green River and a few other places in the area (mostly with a fly rod). I
live in Channahon (I80 and I55, roughly)

Mark,

It is nice to find another IL angler around here. This same topic
came up a while back and there were about a half dozen of us from the
northern half of IL lurking around.

I live next to the Fox river in South Elgin. And if the weather & the
wife cooperate, this Saturday I will be found standing thigh deep in
the middle of the Fox River.

I got out a couple weeks ago with the new fly rod. Water was
C....O...L....D! (35 deg). In about 4 hours I caught 3 bass (LMB) the
biggest about 12", but it was a bass, gosh darnit! I'm off this Saturday,
and plan to go to Woodhaven Friday night and try crank baits or jerk baits
for a while on Saturday. I don't know if the water has warmed up yet or not,
but last weekend, they had a tourney and the winning fish (one fish
weigh-in) was almost 2 pounds...Heck, we had ice on the lakes until about 3
or 4 weeks ago, what did they expect?

Email me sometime and we'll wade the Fox, or if you want to head a little
south, we can hit some of the areas around here. Within 15 minutes of home I
have the Dupage, DesPlaines, Illinois, Kankakee, Heidecke Lake, Braidwood
Lake, Mazonia Fish and Wildlife Area, Milliken Lake.....I still don't know
why people travel a thousand miles just to go fishing. I'm really a bass guy
at heart, but my real love is fly fishing, though I also own a plethora of
heavy hardware.
