What is the best way to carry Compact Flash cards through
international security checks? X-rays, Magnets and the like are not
good for the images :-) I have not travel outside the US with a Dig
Camera, only film.

I'm not sure this is accurate. My laptop has been through many checkpoints
w/o problems, as have my PDA's and SD-card USB drives, in the US and in
Western Europe. No problems yet. Safest to upload your images to laptop,
and have them in two places during travel, but if it's not possible I
wouldn't worry too much about it

Put 'em anywhere you like, flash media is not susceptible to x-rays, magnetics
and the like at levels that aren't overtly harmful to humans...

Haven't had a problem with X-rays screwing the images on a couple of
trips, Harry.
