I've never watched that home video show but I think you can win prizes by
video taping your own stupidity?

If so, wish I had a video camera on me last evening.

My neighbor recently gave me a riding lawnmower ... he got a new one, do I
want his old one? ... we've never wanted one, preferring the exercise of
pushing, but for free ... sure. He brought it over, showed me the
controls and pointed out that he steering gears were worn and probably
should be repaired.

Last night I got on it and started doing laps, it was kid of fun. Soon the
throttle was cranked to full in high gear.... hell I had an SCCA license but
I can do this left turn only stuff too ... and I'm cute enough to be a
NASCAR driver G

Before long it came time to trim close to a tree, one with branches low
enough to require some ducking. I cranked that wheel hard left and around
we went. Something made a loud crack and I could no longer steer, I was
stuck making the tightest left circle the mower could do, under hanging
branches, and for some reason the throttle was stuck wide open. I'd never
driven the thing before and it took a couple laps to compose myself enough
to find the key and turn it off .... but if those laps of me hanging on for
dear life, limbs batting my head, me frantically trying to turn any way but
left, were on video we'd have a grand prize winner I bet G

Larry L ( who will be repairing those steering gears ... or going back to
pushing )

The worst I've ever hurt myself mowing was also tree-related. Trying
to get close to a low apple tree, I ducked my head under a limb, but
the limb just caught the side of the steering wheel. That caused an
immediate and severe left turn, smashing my head into the limb.
Ouch. Never saw it coming.
