Default Dyna King Barracuda Jr. Trekker Vise?

Anyone with first hand experience using this vise, especially for size
16-22 flies?

Also would REALLY appreciate any comments from folks that have used it
head-to-head with a Renzetti Traveler, and no, not looking to hear from
Traveler devotees who won't tie on anything else. =)

The prices aren't too radically different, and I'm considering both,
after saying no to a rotary for 35 years. I tie almost exclusively on a
Regal 360 now, but have been giving these two true rotaries some serious
consideration.

I've tried the DanVise and don't like it at all... no place to rest your
"off" hand, too crowded around the jaws, etc. Owned and sold a NorVise,
no use for one of those again and don't like the Griffin rotaries at
all... would like a Regal Presentation or a Waldron vise, but I'm not
going to spend that kind of money!!!

Thanks!

Larry

The new Dyna King "Trekker" ($209US) will dominate the market in it's price
point. It is cheaper and smaller than the "Barracuda Sr." and will be better
for trout flies.

The larger "Barracuda Sr."($329) has for been hot now for years. Very
popular with big game fly fishers.

We still sell lots of Renzetti "Travelers".

The DynaKing "Kingfisher" @ $109 is smoken' hot.

The Regal vise is still very popular.

I have a Dyna-King Aristocrat that I bought used from a friend when he decided
to by a Barracuda. In time he found the Barracuda was not as good for tying
flies on inverted hooks, so he sold it and bought another Aristocrat. The jaws
are the same for all of these vises and midge jaws are available for all of
them. the Aristocrat sells for somewhere about $210. I would suggest you give a
Dyna-King a try before you spend your hard-earned money on a vise made by any
other company. I seldom tie smaller than a size 16 so I can't say how any vise
is for tying smaller flies. I do prefer the way the Dyna-Kings hold a hook
compared to a Renzetti. They are great for spinning deer hair as well.

I tied with a Renzetti Traveler for 5 years or more before buying a
Barracuda. The Traveler is very good value for the money, but mine
eventurally started to wear out, and the locking nuts don't hold. The
Barra cuda is rock-steady, but not near as nice to tie on. My main demand
is that it is rotary, which makes it a lot easier to tie on the other side
of the hook
