Default A black barracuda in the BVIs?

Recently spent 2 weeks sailing in the British Virgin Isles and saw
plenty of large fish, and snorkelled amongst the silvery barracuda.

An enormous 5 feet long black monster kept swimming around our boat,
accompanied by a lot of other smaller fish. It had a small white
stripe on its head and plenty of sharp white teeth. We were told it
was a barracuda but I have never seen a jet black one before.

Was this a barracuda or something else?

Neil G.
