Georgia in February
Seeking:
1. Pleasant historical tourist sites for the wife 2. Weakfish, redfish, et. for me 3. Mild and restorative weather for both. . . . and thinking of either Charleston or Savannah as the main base. Is there any angling reason to prefer one over the other in February? -- Don Phillipson Carlsbad Springs (Ottawa, Canada) |

In February? Well, Savannah is in Georgia......and Charleston.....um.....well, it ain't. giles who confesses to many a wild and memorable weekend in neither place in a blissfully misspent youth engaged in map reading and other such useless ****. |

I've been gone from the area a long time and I forget what fishes best in Feb but from a pure fishing standpoing I would go with Savannah (or Hilton Head). While both areas offer fishable access, Savannah puts you in easy travel time from Beufort SC down to the Jeckyll Island with miles of salt marshes that you can access relatively easy but hiring a guide and his/hear boat might be a good idea to start.. I think the food is somewhat better in Charleston, but not by much but Savanah and Beufort, allong with Jeckyll and St. Simons Island offer your wife and you all kinds of historical and relaxing opportunities. Plus I find Savannah much more pleasant to stroll around. |
