Default OT Landslide or not?

Indeed, and more to the point here, this group would be far better
off, more enjoyable, and more popular, if those involved ceased
abusing it, ( thus imposing, or attempting to impose, their will on
others), and allowed it to return to its original purpose.

Their consistent refusal to do so merely indicates their contempt for
others, and in many cases their entirely miserable and debased
characters.

Whether or not Obama's strong victory constitutes a landslide I'll leave
to others.

What is indisputable, IMO, is that the Democrats' political fortunes
over the Republicans from the 2006 elections until now constitute a
political landslide of Biblical proportions.

From the Republicans controlling the presidency and both houses of
Congress, and speculating (and gloating) about a permanent majority,
they've come to this sorry pass -- a regional party with deep divisions
and no compelling message but the same old same-old.

Now it's up to the Democrats to show that they can get the bus out of
the ditch and govern effectively.

And if the past is any indication at all, what they will actually do is
sue the bus manufacturer for making unsafe products while raising its
taxes 50%, ramming unionization down its throat, and requiring it to
switch to only making buses that run on avocado pits and
pass-their-prime bean sprouts, thereby putting it out of business.
They'll then loot a truck manufacturer to pay the former employees not
only their former wages, but give them a big raise as a "stimulus" and
make it illegal for mortgage companies to foreclose on their houses and
cars when they fail to make payments...and they'll pay them via prepaid
Visa cards...of which they'll **** up the distribution...

HTH,
R

Gosh, for such a nonpartisan guy you sure are worked up.

Against my better judgment, I'll ask you a serious question (while not
expecting a serious answer).

Do you want our President-elect to succeed?

Gosh, for such a nonpartisan guy you sure are worked up.

Worked up? Ya know, I've never understood that - how people think they
can tell "worked up" from "calm" via the written word of people they
have never even talked to, much less actually know. IAC, believe me or
don't, but I can't ever remember being "worked up" while reading or
posting to ROFF (or doing anything like it) - it's just not the way I'm
wired, if you will.

Against my better judgment, I'll ask you a serious question (while not
expecting a serious answer).

Do you want our President-elect to succeed?

Absolutely. I want _every_ US POTUS to succeed. At least by my
definition of success. But the biggest hurdle he faces is not the
economy, the wars, Iran, al Queda, energy, or anything like that. It's
divisiveness - it's assholes like Emanuel, Limboob, Carville, the
Clintons, Rove, Reid, Wright, Jackson, Farrakhan, etc., and it's not
mainly GOP _or_ Dem, it's pretty evenly spread around among the parties.
He claimed to see the US as one and pledged to run that way. He didn't.
He also pledged to govern that way. It remains to be seen what he does.
And I sincerely hope he succeeds...and IMO, while it won't be proof of
success, it'll be a pretty good sign if most of Congress disagrees with
him, but is too scared of the public to cross him. And if he does
succeed, there will be "MObama" (Hmmm...Copyright, RDean....) signs on
everything I own come about 2011...

TC,
R
....and for the record, the only political sign, sticker, etc. that I
owned or possessed this election was a single Obama poster/sign, and I
displayed none at all, nor have I ever in my adult life, either for or
against. I did have, and still have, a fair amount of Carter stuff, the
only "political message" material I've ever owned, save, now, the single
Obama sign.
