Default Deep sea fishing in the gulf

New here all..

My father-in-law is turning 50 this summer.

to celebrate he wanted to take the camily (me and my wife included) to
Key West to do Marlin fishing.

The costs are becoming higher than he anticipated. I am wanting to give
him some cheaper options. We live in Alabama and they could fly to us
and we can drive to Panama City, Pensecola or Destin (FL) easily.

I have been deep sea fishing before and found it to be terribly boring
(I freshwater fish, Bass, and I love it.) I got so tired of dropping
the line, waiting 30 seconds, and reeling up a fish that doesnt fight
at all, and they all looked the same (snapper or grouper... take your
pick!)

I am sure my father-in-law wants som e fighting GAME fish.

AWhat are the big FUN game fish in the gulf? Any shameless plugs for
some charter boats in the panhandle of Florida area?

thanks in advance!
Jazz

Have you looked into tarpon. Also red fish. Sure lots more fun than fresh
water fish.

I would suggest that you go further south to the area between say Boca
Grande to Tampa.
Get onto Google and check out charter captains. Also drop by your local
bookstore and check the various magazines for Florida salt water fishing.
Just to get you started here is one link.

If you live in Alabama, you might want to try Orange Beach. I've not
personally tried one yet but they are closer to the rigs that seem to
attract the black fin and yellow fin tunas, also, what about a 20-40 lb
amberjack? Anyway, try this link.
http://www.gulffishing.net/captains_directory.htm or this
http://www.hasslefreecharters.com/walkon.html
or this http://www.getawaygulffishing.com/
and for a report, try
http://pensacolanewsjournal.com/apps...605110322/1017

If the full link doesn't work, try just the pensacola news journal, sports,
fishing, then hot spots w/Chris Phillips.
I want to go so bad I can TASTE IT! I've got a 20 footer and am waiting for
the waves to die down some. Looks like later this week might work! Good
Luck
