Nice shots, Jeff. Looks like you weren't too impacted by the heat and the dry.
Hope there's still some water left when I'm there in September.

thanks charlie. the fishing was good. it was hot during the day, but
nothing like we experienced at rock creek several years ago. the peaks
lacked the snow/ice we usually see. the madison was normal because of
the dam releases at hebgen, though i was told the release was recent and
the river was low before that.

i trust you know chas was (is still) planning a gathering in the park in
september to hike in to some lakes or to fish the lamar valley area.

I know he was, but wasn't sure if he still is.

This is a really nice one, Jeff - lots of good textures. Where was it taken?

beartooth pass. we took the chief joseph route out of cody, then turned
right at the junction where you can either go left to cooke city or
right to red lodge. that route up beartooth is among the prettiest
drives i've ever taken... goes up to almost 11,000 feet then down into
montana plains. a real photographer could spend months/years picking
about those miles. i bought a new olympus stylus 773 with a fixed lens
system, but i don't think it takes as good a picture as my old stylus
with the expanding lens. i'd like to see what you and wayno could do
with all the unique lights, shadows, lines, etc in that area. it changes
every minute. just jaw-dropping pretty everywhere you look...well,
except for the two-wheeled and 4-wheeled intruders.

beartooth pass.

I thought so. I went over it last September but there was so much smoke I could
barely see any scenery.

Appreciate it as well Jeff. Moira and I will be out there starting Labor
Day and have a cabin at Mammoth Hots Springs for five days before we
head down to Jackson.

bulls**t creek. danl located this stream. scenery and fishing were
superb. we spent 3 full days fishing it. rainbows and cutts. all of the
fish had vibrant coloring...among the prettiest, healthiest fish i've
caught in montana. strong fights and incredible jumps, some 3 or more
feet out of the water. most were in the 15-16 inch size...but danl
caught several 17-18 inchers. i lost 2 i know would have been 20" or
more. a fun stream.

That is a very cool shot.
