I order over the web -no prioblem - but I closely monitor my credit cards
for fraudulent charges and we do catch them.

I often use paypal to pay on the web, I have one credit card that is used
only for the web and I have one bank account for internet use.

Theoretically, it offers a small measure of protection...I feel it is no
more dangerous than letting a clerk 'scan' your card at the mall...

Take the time, and get a "free" PayPal account
It is the safest way to order online, and you CC information is
protected by them, and they are great about protecting it

You're paranoid.

You are correct. I have to be. I am involved in computer security.

Do you follow your credit card when the
waiter/waitress takes it to scan? I didn't think so.

I pay cash. Where I do use a credit card, it NEVER leaves
my sight.

I have used
credit cards for many, many years, including buying loads of stuff on
the internet, and have never experienced any fraud.

If you must order on line, have a good anti virus, such as Kaspersky
and DO NOT USE INTERNET EXPLORER. Use Firefox (http://www.mozilla.com)
instead.

Also, most home owners policy's have an identity theft protection
option. They are usually very cheap.

And, keep are very close eye on your accounts. It can
take YEARS to clear your name.

Dave

My 2 cents.

I'm 71. I don't have "YEARS" to worry about it. I have done business
on the internet for many years without any trouble.
