Call For Votes (CFV): aus.sport.shooting
Sounds good to me.
"Ausadmin" wrote in message ... -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- CALL FOR VOTES Creation of Unmoderated newsgroup aus.sport.shooting This is a formal Call For Votes (CFV) for the creation of a new Australian unmoderated newsgroup aus.sport.shooting. Please see below for voting instructions. Newsgroups line: aus.sport.shooting Australian shooting sports involving firearms. Votes must be received by Saturday November 01 2003 10:59:59 +1000. For this vote to pass, YES votes must be at least 2/3 of all valid (YES and NO) votes. There must also be at least 20 more YES votes than NO votes. This vote is being conducted by ausadmin. For voting questions contact . For questions about the proposed group contact Lindsay Vincent lindsay at hornet..net..au. RATIONALE: The proposed group (aus.sport.shooting) would cater for the discussion and dissemination of information pertaining to all forms of sport involving firearms (longarms and handguns) in Australia. This would include hunting for food (eg: rabbits), sport (eg: pigs & goats) or livelihood (eg: fox), target, clays, competition, reloading/ballistics, pistols, and the like. Currently, there is no newsgroup in the aus.* hierarchy that covers any form of sport shooting in Australia. The only other forums available that I'm aware of are rec.guns, and alt.sport.shooting. rec.guns is heavily biased towards shooting in the USA, and alt.sport.shooting is sparsely populated with approx 13 on-topic posts in the last 30 days. Shooting sports in Australia are generally frowned upon because of the adverse media attention given to any article mentioning firearms. The majority of firearm owners that I know would like a forum to talk about shooting sports in Australia (which, with respect) is different to the United States and other countries. This group would give Australian sporting shooters somewhere to talk about their sport - somewhere for the sporting shooter to discuss the merits of Breneke slugs on pigs, .22 Magnum over .22 Hornet, Michael Diamond's chances at the Athens Olympics, gun mods and repairs, and so on... END RATIONALE. CHARTER: aus.sport.shooting aus.sport.shooting is for the discussion of shooting sports and related topics in Australia. Examples of on-topic discussions include: - hunting with firearms - pistol shooting - target shooting - ballistics and reloading - competition - clay targets - areas to shoot - gunsmithing Off-topic posts, such as the following subjects, are discouraged: - political posts - posts debating the firearms laws and legislation of Australia and other countries. - posts discussing the illegal use of firearms. What is not acceptable: - HTML posting - Binaries (post a URL instead) - Crossposting to more than 3 other newsgroups - Commercial advertisements (unless prefixed with [COMM] ) - For-Sale advertisements (unless prefixed with [FS] ) - Auction advertisements (unless prefixed with [FA] ) - Flaming and ad-hominem attacks - Spam and chain letters END CHARTER. PROPOSER: Lindsay Vincent lindsay at hornet..net..au HOW TO VOTE: To vote, you must send an email message to: The subject of your email message is not important. Your mail message must contain only one of the following statements: I vote YES on aus.example.name I vote NO on aus.example.name You must replace aus.example.name with the name of the newsgroup that you are voting on. Anything else may be rejected by the automatic vote counting program. The ausadmin system will respond to your received message with a personal acknowledgement by E-mail so you must send from your real email address, not a spam-block address. If you do not receive an acknowledgement within 24 hours, try again. It is your responsibility to make sure your vote is registered correctly. Only one vote per person, no more than one vote per E-mail address. Votes from invalid or unreachable email addresses may be rejected. Multiple voting attempts will be ignored. E-mail addresses of all voters will be published in munged form in the final voting results list. Ausadmin will attempt to keep actual voting directions (YES or NO) confidential, however the vote emails themselves received by ausadmin will be considered non-confidential and their contents may be published in full at ausadmin's discretion (e.g. in suspected multi-voting).
