Nice day on the water, bad catching.
Was such a nice weekend, that after working yesterday, wife says we need to
take an outing. Took the kayak to a local lake. Lake Del Valle. Is way down as they are dropping the level to do some work on the dam. Down maybe 50' and dropping a foot or so a day. While the wife paddled, I threw Senko at the rockwalls and points, I threw crankbaits at the rockwalls, dropshot the rocks, jigs at the rockwalls, and even broke one rattletrap on a rock wall. Only saw one fish caught all day. As we were beached and doing a little hike and I threw a frog in an inlet, some guy walks up the beach fighting a nice fish. Is an about 10# striper. Was a trout fisherman. Bait is nightcrawler and powerbait on about 6# spinning outfit. Nice job landing the fish. We arrived about noon and had a picnic and then launched into a breeze. Later the wind died and was hot paddling back to the launch. Sorry for you people in lands where you have to winterize. Was about 75 this afternoon. |
