Default Schoharie Creek

Anyone here local to the Schoharie Creek in NY? I've fished it as a kid and
now that I have relocated back to the county of my birth, I find myself
fishing ever other day. Great smallmouth action as well as walleyes. Just
curious.

I'm not local to it, but I usually get up to the Mohawk at least once in
the summer and always make it a point to run up the creek a bit. When
the river's smallies often stack up in the schoharie. My daughter's
in-laws sold the farm in Canajoharie, so I don't have as much excuse to
drive up there any more, but I expect I'll get there at least once this
summer or early fall.

Today I spent a couple hours at the Burtonsville bridge fishing generic
black and yellow 3/8 oz jigs from Wallmart. I caught a dozen 8-10"
smallmouths along with three nice keepers in the 13-14 inch neighborhood.
The kicker was the 22 inch walleye caught on the same cheap jigs.

Fish the Schoharie if you're in the area.
