About to Commit Suicide

My wife Jacci and son Mason are away visiting her Mom this weekend.
The older boy has to work. So I was left to my own devices. So I took
a little trip east this evening to an always dependable stream. When I
walked down to the water there was this mama and baby taking an little
wade.

Caught a lot of these small guys (with a few larger ones at

All on Pass Lakes.

It seemed to me as if the average size in the crick is running smaller
this year. It would probably be a good idea to take some home and let
the surviving fish have the fryers rations. Maybe another day.

Got home at about 10:30 and opened a bottle of Leinies Red. Then I
rummmaged in the pantry and the freezer for my dinner. Nothing
appealed to me until I spotted the bag of frozen brussel sprouts.
Mmm... brussel sprouts... my favorite amongst all the sprout
comestibles. But also veggies with a certain gaseous reputation. A
reputation that is only surpassed, in my experience, by Leinenkugel
Red. Eating the sprouts and washing them down with Leinies could
induce a near death experience (hence the title).


Oh well, you only live once. I cooked up the sprouts ala Anglaise,
i.e., overcooked and soaked with melted butter. I'm in the process of
eating them and drinking my beer even as I type.
