Went fishing, put together boat, forgot license, took boat apart, got
duplicate license, put boat together, caught fish (23" bass), fish
broke my rod, took boat apart, found license.

So, after that exciting morning, I went back this evening. Caught a
lot more bass, but ended up breaking my back-up rod walking to the
parking lot in the dark. Rod tip went into a fence.

Score, duplicate fishing license, 2 broken rods, and a severe case of
bass thumb.

Geezus, Frank! I always viewed you as a gear whore, but, truth be told,
you simply need to have adequate backup.....

Found out that Powell's repair is 99 bucks and TFO is 25. I've only
got 4 more 5wt's left!

yeesh! Well, at least you can rest assured that if you break them all,
I'm still holding a 11 foot surfcasting rod in the basement in VA for
you...........
Tom

p.s. Jeanine will be lobbing that thing for bluefish in about 5 weeks.
Matthew will be observing, and learning(my little angler-in-
training!)

Many might consider a 5wt a little under gunned for bass that reach
23".

I'm moving up to the 7wt, though I'm worried 'cause I only have 2 of
them. Actually, I heard rumors of the size of the fish in this area
and discounted them (this IS Nebraska). However, with the bill for
one day of fishing on the local froggy water at $131 plus shipping, I
don't know if my bride will allow me out the door.

Did you have an Irish Coffee before you started your morning fishing trip?

CR

Large quantities of beer afterwards.

Yeah, well there is a surf casting rod in the bargain cave at Cabela's
that I'm eyeing. Trying to get the price down. Right now, its at
about 160 and will fling an 11 oz lead.

Ummm hmmmm.

Mister Reid flinging an 11 oz anything sounds like an upcoming chapter in "The
Art Of Being Frank".

Three words: "Wear a helmet"...
