I wouldn't judge him personally, but break dancing as poorly as he did
on national TV is embarrassing. And I don't even have a problem with the
screaming reactions after landing a fish, just the awful dancing. I never
thought break dancing was cool, but now it's officially un-cool. Stick to
fishing white boy.

I haven't seen the footage so I'm just going on what I've read here, but
I'm wondering. If I was told I had to look more excited for the cameras,
and after complaining I had someone leaning on me about it, I'm the kind
of guy that might do something like that on purpose. Looking back at it
they couldn't say I didn't do what they told me to, but they would think
twice about telling such a 'bad actor' to do that again.

Rich, if you watch the scene again you'll hear Mike say "This is the winning
fish!" as he's bringing it to the boat. I believe he knew that 3 3/4 pound
bass put him over the top. Only seconds before encountering the bass he was
saying how he fished hard but didn't think he had enough weight on his limit
to win. He then missed the fish initially with one lure, instinctively
reacted by cranking in the first bait, picked up a second rod with another
bait on it & followed up the first encounter perfectly, instantly getting
bit on the follow-up lure. He then got the bass out of the weeds & into the
boat like a seasoned veteran. He freaked out the instant he got the
lip-lock on the bass, sure enough. Yea, I had to turn down my volume, but I
thought the whole scene above was awesome.

Mike screamed things like "Never give up!" & "Bass fishing is great!", but I
never heard a single "I'm the greatest!" or "Take that Gary Klein!".

Mike is brash, confident & a little different than most. I'd be the first
the criticize him if I ever saw him intentionally bring down our sport.
But, frankly, I haven't ever seen him do that.

And I've been beaten by him many times.

cameras in their boats suggests that the behavior is more linked to ESPN

overboard
with it than anyone else.

Federation boy not half a decade ago fellas, he's lived the dream.

Kerchal should have been Mike to the power of 10, since he was still a
Federation guy when he won the Classic.

I applaud Mike's fishing skills. He is obviously right up there with the

I'm reading this wondering what's going on. It says Goneangling at the top,
but there are complete sent4ences that make sense and read as if they were
written by someone with a functional brain. Holy Cow, there's even
punctuation! Good thing I read the reply under your own name before I
started my own reply.

Regardless of him saying "this is the winning fish", he had absolutely no
way of knowing that it was. I heard other competitors say similar things
without laying on the floor and rolling around screaming or otherwise
making complete Aholes of themselves. If it wasn't for a bit of misfortune
befalling Klien and Allen, it very well could have been a non-winning fish.
So I still contend that fish only told him that he was in a good position
to win.

I don't really know how anyone could watch his reaction and sense that it
was a performance, not an actual emotional reaction.
