Default best line for pike fishing

What is the best line for pike spinning.

Currently I use braid, its tough and flexible
but I am wondering if the obviously visible line could
be spooking the fish.

Unlikely - however you'd probably find that a few yards of mono between the
braid and the trace would be a useful shock absorber so you might as well use
clear mono if you're worried.

Very doubtful ~ imho the conditions of the area that you are fishing
normally dictate your choice in line; for areas with underwater obstacles
and weed, braid is essential (I think Fox recommend 35 lb for those areas).

From reading between the lines I'm guessing that you are having problems
with regards to the amount of bites that you are having;

Pike are finicky creatures at the best of times perhaps altering the lures
that you use, and/or the methods that you employ to use them with, would
increase the amount of takes that you have ?

At this time of year I find that the red head/white body lure works best
(with the blue/black Mackerel type a close second).

I have also found that high winds and excessive rainfall take pike off the
feed.
