Default Catching Sunfish in California

Went fishing today. Lake Sonoma. Found a cove last weekend that meets all
the criteria for being a good home for bass (based on the little that I
know); lots of trees in the water, trees overhanging the water, deep to
shallow, good water circulation, but off the beaten path. Took my ski boat.
Cut the motor outside the cove and drifted in on windpower. Used my oar to
quietly stay off the rocks, trees, banks. Dead silent; nothing but nature
sounding off. Then something top feeding every couple of minutes. Threw a
Super-Duper in caught a sunfish; I love the fight in a panfish compared to a
lake rainbow. Left my drag really loose so I actually worked for a bit
longer bringing it in. Fun!

After that, however, no more bites. I could actually see the fish following
my lures, but no takers. Tried salmon egg and tried powerbait under a
bobber. No more top feeding and no takers on my offerings. If I only had a
worm.

Yeah, it beat the heck out of being at work! Can't wait to try my cove
again with some worms.
