Default Walleye on a fly?

Anybody gone after walleye on a fly rod. Plannint to try my hand at some
pike fishing on the fly, yea I know it sounds like fun. Figured while I was
at it I might try to catch a few walleye. Always used spinning gear and
jigs. Any of you guys tried them on a fly rod. If so how? Thanks

OG,

I gather that Walleye are pretty deep most of the summer.

I guess that is one reason there are suppose to be so good eaten'.

I have heard that some do catch them on flies at the right time and place.

Maybe spring and fall?

Waleye are somewhat easy to take on a fly. My son and I have had luck on the
salmon river and indian rivers in upstate New York. We used small estatz flies
in blaze oragne and chartreuse. They hit hard and run fast. we were fisshing in
relatively deep water (10 feet) and bouncing close to the bottom. That was the
key to the walleyes. We decided to spend the day getting the wallies. Took some
that were 22 inches or better. Most were in the 10-18 inch range. All released
to fight another day.

Good luck.
