I would like to replace it with a 4-pc 6wt but I can't spend much more
than about $200 dollars. I have been told something about a Temple
professional and a Scott but I don't really know those names and I
can't afford Loomis or Sage that I know of so any and all help is
appreciated.

Walmart has some good cheap flyrods. look on the bottom half and some

will say #6. dont matter what color it is as all colour rods will catch
fish. You could always spraypaint it if you dont like it.

Regardless of how one feels toward WallyWorld, what I have found out about
their flyrod selection is that they are--without exception, from my
experience--junk! WallyWorld tends to sell flyrods made by companies that
specialize in bait-casting and spinner rod manufacture--e.g., Eagle Claw
comes to mind. Thus their flyrods are not well designed. Most are much too
stiff, have too few snake guides (count the number of guides on a quality
brand name fly rod, of any weight and length and then go to WallyWorld and
find a comparable rod, weight and length and count the number of guides on
that rod), and do not appear or act as if they are weighted to fly fishing
standards.

My $0.02

better worth your money. Again, St. Croix has some nice casting rods and
combos in the price range Michael is looking for. Orvis too.

I agree wholeheartedly.
Wal-Mart sucks!
For the most part they sell low end sh**
I also agree that there are many better economy rods available.

LLBean would also be a good place to search.
Some of their rods were or are made by Thomas & Thomas and are decent and
relatively inexpensive.

Fred

Um, doesn't Walmart carry some Orvis stuff?

Rods at walmart very well may be junk, but the rods they sell come from
very reputable fly fishing companies. My local Walmart has 2 brands,
Orvis and Scientific Anglers. They DO NOT carry Eagle Claw. SA rods
very well might suck, but you have to admit that SA makes quality fly
fishing products (mastery fly lines, system x box (Picked one up from
wally world for $12 and change) ).

Some Walmarts might carry more, but the only Orvis products Walmart sells
here are Green Mountain fly lines and leaders. Bottom end lines from Orvis.
No other Orvis products. They sell mostly very low end Scientific Angler
gear. AKA: junk.

Oh, goody...a new face who fancies him(?)self a DYGS...and for Tim and
the guide - just sub "gear" for "beer"...bubba, you are in about as
wrong a place as you can get if you wanna set yourself up as a real
high-stepping gear connoisseur...and you are doing it with about as
wrong a person as you could pick, too...

There isn't a fly rod at any Walmart, anywhere, that a decent FFer
_couldn't_ use. If that FFer _wouldn't_ use it, that says more about
them than Walmart or the gear in question. Heck, in the hands of many,
even a broken rod in the returned items bin could produce results. And
if a FFer's budget made Walmart (or other purveyors of what you call
"junk") the supplier of choice, there's no shame in that.

You're not by any chance from Ketchum, Jr. or the proud owner of, IIRC,
"at least one of every rod Orvis ever made," are you?

All this time to rehearse and STILL nothing to say.

What a half-wit.

Wolfgang
on the other hand, he gives google some much needed exercise and he IS
amusing when he's serious.

I think that the St. Croix Avid series is the best rod for the buck!
The warranty is amongst the best in the business. AsAMofFact, if you
had one you'd have a new tip, or rod replacement by now. And of course
it's made in the USofA .

Regards.

But don't worry little pup - if chimps banging on typewriters will

"meaningful" just isn't in your future...much like your past.. but look
on the sunny side of the street, and speaking of which - at least it
keeps you off of the streets...puppies don't seem to have much luck
chasing cars...

Tootles to you, too,
