Default dead snake

Today I had a snake guide on a "low end" rod break. I've owned a lot of
rods, from pricey to cheap, over a 40 year period and broken my share of
blanks, but this is the first time I've had a "component" fail.

I tend to make fun of guys that fall for the ad-man "image" b.s. that adds
25% to the ticket of "top end" equipment, so I felt I should also confess it
when a cheapie fails to live up to expectation ..... fair is fair.

No Clue. I've only used the rod a very few times, I bought it for nymphing
and I don't nymph g The rod has been in a nice hard rod/reel case so I
doubt it was damaged "in transit." When I was stringing it today I noticed
a guide because it looked out of alignment with the rest of the guides. It
was cracked right at the wrap. When I tried to move it the 1/8 inch to
confirm it was actually broken and try to realign it to get through the day,
the other end snapped at the wrap ... cheap metal

P.S. It casts well enough for nymphing without the guide ....
