Default Rod an Reel question

If you go with a spinning outfit consider a 6' 6" rod although a 6' would work fine. A Shimano 2000 or Daiwa 2000 (or equivalent 6-10lb) spinning reel should work fine. Use high quality fishing line.

Why just topwater plugs?

I am sure everyone has their own opinion, but if I could have only ONE rod and reel it would be a Medium Heavy Loomis SJ783 Mahogany (or Slate) with a Daiwa Prodigy 2000 spinning reel.

Oops, did I start something?

Hi,

I am stationed in South Carolina and am relatively new to Bass fishing. What would be a rod/reel combo for topwater plugs? What kind of action should the rod have?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Brent
