Default difference between 2x strong and 1x fine hooks?

Went fishing the other day, and noticed that I lost a lot of fish on 1x
fine hooks and didnt loose fish on 2x strong 2457 hooks. Didnt matter
if the hooks were barbless or not, even big hoppers lost fish after
securely hooked, and I am wondering what explains this?

1X fine means the hook has the wire diameter of a hook one size
smaller....these would normally be used for dry flies.
2X strong means the hook has the wire diameter of a hook two sizes
larger....these would normally be used for wets and nymphs.
As you can see, there is a three-fold difference in wire diameter from
one to the other, so the 1X fine is significantly weaker than the 2X
strong. What likely happened is the gap of the finer hook opened up a
bit while you were playing the fish, so the fish was able to shake the
hook loose. To correct this situation, play the fish with less pressure
when using the lighter hooks.
