Today my daughter landed a monster Crappie about 14". where do you go to
find out if this is a record for the state of Maine?

I never knew those buggers got so big!

I caught one 20 inches long, 4 1/2 inches thick, way back in 81, I wish
I had that thing mounted, (no one had a camera even) I was so mad when I
found out I missed the state record by 2 Oz, I cleaned it in front of
everyone at the marina.

Down here 14 to 16 inch crappie are regularly caught, some lakes have a
10 inch min. to keep, the whole state has a 9 inch min.

Here in Maine the state record is 3lb 4 oz. I need to go find my fish scale.
Im so not used to weighing fish... just look at length. Then I guess Freeze
it until IFW can come look at it.

It was a good day of fishing for sure. an 18" and 19" bass, some pikckerel,
and catfish at night.

You need to check your state records, but I have caught a number of crappie
in the 12-16" range down here.
