Check out the photo of the Mackinaw I caught this afternoon:

http://www.ruralnetwork.net/~troutbum/web/mackinaw.JPG

I caught it on a #4 black bugger I tied last night, specifically for
that purpose. Fortunately for me, there was someone there to take the
photo. It was sweet.

How about some specifics. How'd you know the fish were there?

Lake trout were stocked in this lake years ago, and they've had enough
time to grow to brobdingnagian proportions. They feast on the heavily
stocked rainbows. I don't know whether they're successfully spawning,
but I suspect they are.

They're usually caught (just a very, very few every year) by people
trolling deep in the summer. I figured that now, before the lake "turned
over," they'd be in the shallows looking for food, like the bull trout.
I first took my pontoon boat out, but the wind was too strong, so I came
back and fished the inlet from shore. That's about all there is to it.

I can't see the fish that everyone is commenting about. Is it hidden
somewhere behind that submarine you're holding? Very nice indeed!

Cheers,
Bill

I guess so! Awesome photo, and the background scenery isn't bad either.

Wow! A plan that obviously worked.
