Default August - Maine - Kennebec River, New Meadows River

For a week in the beginning of August I'm going to be in a house in that area
(West Bath). If anyone out there can give advice:
1) Are these areas fishable from shore or canoe, or do I need to find a guide?
2) Any suggestions on patterns or naturals to imitate? It will be a couple
days past the full moon, 8-9' rise & fall, low tide in the AM.

Thank you in advance.

Glenn
