CANBERRA YELLOWFIN TOURNAMENT SET TO FIRE
There has at times been huge numbers of yellowfin along the continental
shelf between Batemans Bay and Bermagui.

Daniel from Batemans Bay Bait and Tackle reported one particularly good
result: Canberran Dave Schmidt and friends on the boat Santone managed
to catch and release 43 Yellowfin Tuna in one days fishing wide of
Narooma! They ran out of tag cards in the process but who could blame
them-usually 43 tags is more than enough! The fin' were mostly 'rat'
sized specimens but several were much bigger-Danny Buckly scored an 40.8
kg specimen.

To add to the memorable day angler David Warner lost a really big
Yellowfin when a shark swallowed both the tuna and the lure it was
attached too! It was Davids favourite lure. Shortly afterwards, nearby
charter boat 'Nitro' landed a 180 kg Mako Shark.

The shark regurgitated the tuna plus Davids lure! David herd of this on
the VHF radio and got his lure back. The chances of this are some where
between Buckleys and none!

Imagine what was said on the radio!! :-)

Wish I was there....
