....was thinking of you, and your generous clave gift, the other day. I
needed to recall a tying technique I had a foggy idea of and reached for
your Benchside Reference CD, as it was much quicker than searching my tying
room for the hardback copy and thumbing through pages.
Thanks again!

No problem, Tom. Glad you're still using it. I gave Bruce Hopper the
book for his job on the first San Juan Clave. Trouble is, Bruce is
one of the best tyers I know (beside you!), and I can not imagine him
using the book (or you using the CD!)

I cannot speak for Bruce, but when I try something a little different(in
this case moving to turkey biots for ribbed bodies, a theme for this year's
clave flies) I like to learn what I can before blundering into the tying. It
cuts down on the inevitable learning curve, at least a wee bit. Thus, I
truly appreciated that gift, as well as the later Carrie Steven's book,
which cycles through the coffee tables at my house, in a feeble attempt to
make me look more cultured and eruditeg.
Tom
