Doesn't make much difference except maybe in shallow water - until the mud
starts to wash in. If anything it helps slightly as you are harder to see
through the broken surface. I have seen plenty of fish feeding at the
surface in summer rain and you'd expect surface feeders to be most affected.
OK it does make dry fly fishing difficult but that's for a different reason.

Even cold rain is rarely a problem - snow and hail are different and usually
do slow things up.

What are the problems you experience?

If the rain is cold it will cool the water and put fish off feeding

So: If 3m water at 12C gets 12mm (rather a lot) rain at 6C what is the
resulting temperature?

How wide is the area that is 3m deep? We do live in a 3D world. Also i would
assume air temperature would play a part and also the wind speed and
direction. Please give us all the details

Just calculate on a 1x1cm column. Keep the wind down or you'll blow it
over...

Close.

So at 3m depth an addition of 3mm rainwater 6deg colder is a mixture 1000:1
reducing the overall water temperature by (roughly) a half of one percent of a
degree. Now is that temperature drop going to put the fish off?
