I can't hardly look at this newsgroup any more without seeing way too many
political postings. I come here to be free of those postings so I am forced to
leave again.... I may be back in a few months, but I doubt it.

for crying out loud, Dale....it's only one poster to killfile, that shouldn't
be too bad!
FWIW, I wish there could be something done about Muskie in his various
incarnations, but all remedies seem temporary.

I only see Muskie on his first posting under a new identity. If you killfile him
then and remove the thread from view, you really don't see too much of that
stuff.

Hurry back, Dale.

IJ says
good for you Dale but please send me a e-mail once in awhile because I will
miss you--think I just got kicked off Fly Fishing At posting group because
I criticized one member for excessive non fishing posts. They had 41 posts
trying to guess the guys middle name.

I lurk in a couple of the astronomy news groups. They have got a cross
posting spammer there that makes Muskie look like an rookie.

Me too. I don't mind seeing his posts, and I scan through a few of them, but
not many. Sometimes I see his point, sometimes I don't. Sometimes I agree,
sometimes I don't. But I always appreciate that he is out there, yelling
as loud as he can about his point of view. The alternative (which a lot of
people seem to endorse) is a hell of a lot worse.

And it really makes me wonder when people want to censor him in the name of
'patriotism' or 'Americanism' or something. I wonder just how many of our
freedoms we could lose if we let all of our 'patriots' have their way,
silencing the people they disagree with.

Thank the Founding Fathers for Muskie and his rants.
Thank Bill Gates even more for killfiles.

I strongly doubt that anyone besides you has thought he should be
sensored on the grounds of patriotism. That's a silly idea if I ever
read one. Maybe among all the replies to his stuff that I've deleted
there is some such claim, such a person is likely less worth listening
to than Muskie himself.

In Chicago we had bughouse square. The point is not to suppress that
stuff, it's to put it in the appropriate place, and in an appropriate
manner. Agree with him or not, he needs to learn some netiquite:

1) no cross posting.
2) post the link, not the text of someone else's ideas.
3) Buzz off when everybody asks you to.

I have about 10 aliases of him in my kill file. I see his stuff for
one day before I add his new alias to the file and delete the messages.
I also just delete the messages without reading them, because I'd
rather learn from someone I respect.

I don't recall any Muskie sort of uproar around your posts, unless
you're another of his aliases?
