From the DEC hunting regulations:

"To hunt—means to pursue, shoot, kill or capture (other than trap)
wildlife and includes all lesser acts that disturb or worry wildlife
whether or not they result in taking. Hunting also includes all acts to
assist another person in taking wildlife."

That's a pretty poorly worded regulation. Walking, talking, shouting,
running, fly fishing etc. could "disturb or worry" wildlife.

Successful fly fishing actually requires it. :-)

It's not poorly worded-- my understanding is that it's intentionally
worded that way so that conservation officers can charge people who
intentionally disturb animals for the purpose of interrupting legal
hunts with "hunting without a license"!!

That may be its intent, but it's still a poorly worded regulation. I
can't see how it would be upheld if someone challenged it.

Hm........

Three scowling lummoxen, cudgels rampant, approach rapidly (in single file)
shrieking fowl oaths interspersed with what can only be interpreted as
threats of physical violence. You cut the legs off the first one with an

Doesn't fit - that's hardly an "incredible action" if all you've got is an
eighteen inch Homelite chainsaw.

otoh, if you cut off one of your *own* legs - now *that* would be an
"incredible action".

/daytripper (unfortunately, it sucks as a deterrent, so the rule "stands" ;-)

it does make a difference to me as well. i like, and care about, warren
and wolfgang. long ago i decided that i would let little said here
affect my personal interactions with folks. i have moderated that
spirited optimism a bit. however, i will say that from my experieces
with warren, including observing his daughter with him, his daughter is
most fortunate to have such a father. i only wish i knew more divorced
men who were as caring and adult as warren about the serious business
and hard work of parenting a child after separation and divorce from the
child's mother. i was more impressed by warren's parenting ability than
his fishing...and he's a damn fine fisherman.

I concur. It's too easy for many divorced fathers to shirk their
responsibilities, especially the emotional/relationship parts. Warren
has a great relationship with his daughter and she's a fine young girl.
