Default BAD CHOICE

Head gasket? Blown head gaskets are realtively common. Should be able to
get a shop to fix it for you without to much trouble.

I bought a 1997 Javelin TE 400 20 ft. Bass rig this winter, I found the
boat in a local newspaper and checked it out, I found out a car dealer
had it on their showroom floor. The boat was super clean and detailed
nice. I took the boat to a marina and had a compression check and spark
test ran, everything checked out fine. The marina thought it was a good
buy also, so I bought it.
Today I started the motor with the ear muffs and found a leak on the
gasket that sits between the powerhead and the block. Has anyone ever
seen this type of leak before? and how much will it cost to be repaired.

umm, the powerhead is the engine, the block is part of the engine. If it's
a water jacket or head leak with no additional damage, you'll get out fairly
cheaply.
