Stripers in the Sacramento Delta now
Hi All,
With the cooling temps here in Nor Cal, the stripers seemed to be moving into the Delta for the winter. We are getting more good reports now. You need a 14 to 18 foot power boat, #7 to #9 weight outfit with fast sinking line and Clouser minnows. The tidal movement does effect the fishing and having a fish locator/bottom sounder is a good too. You can use it for finding baitfish, structure and even stripers. Some of our guys caught stripers to 12#, a salmon and some black bass on Tuesday in the Delta. Mildred Island, big lake, is a good place to start fishing because it is consistent. It is popular from October through March. Then we go after them in the rivers for the spawning run. -- Bill Kiene Kiene's Fly Shop Sacramento, CA www.kiene.com |
