I can't believe this weather guys! Here in Northern Indiana, it's going to
be in the mid 50's thru till about mid next week. It's unlikely they can
predict the weather accurately that far ahead, but still..... I think I
winterized my boat to soon! And to think, north of me 2 weeks ago, they got
15 inches!
Crazy weather man! At this rate, I wonder if we'll see any hard water
fishing this year.....

Anyway,

Tight lines,

Doug

Is it really that different than what happens every year - either
colder than average or warmer than average? We set record cold here
last week - and very warm this week. Got down to 20 last week, hit 71
yesterday. Fish in my ponds completely quit feeding for three days,
yesterday they started feeding again pretty good.

In 1988, I think it was, I was fishing in shorts and tee shirt December
22 - 24. Water temp was 61, fishing was fantastic. Water is 52 here
now - very different. I guess extremes are what make averages.

Hey Ronnie,

I just think its pretty darned warm for Dec. 14th, for being North. Our
usual temps for this time of year is 35 with 45 being an extremely warm day.
I remember as a kid, we almost always had a descent snow by Thanksgiving
every year, now we have mid 50's in Dec., and 70's in November. The
temperatures have consistently warmed "the average", every year for the last
16 years, consistently. (The records don't go back any further that I could
find, not that they don't exist)
I'm am just saying that the temp's are GREAT compared to what we COULD have,
for this time of year.

It's unfortunate that man has played such a roll on the earth and it's
weather to this extent, with our over population and green house gasses.
But on the flip side of things, I'm enjoying the temp's. But I think were
going pay for it sometime though... I just wish everyone would have an
appreciation for nature like 95% of sportsmen / fisherman.

I put the boat away about 3 weeks ago or so, and the water surface temps
were around 50 to 53, was getting chilly, but I did manage to boat a few
keepers to round off the year. If this weather pattern keeps up, maybe I'll
just start making the day after New Years the day to winterize and store the
gear.... If I lived in Georgia, I don't think I would EVER put it away!

Kindest regards,

Doug

Doug, our planet has been going through wild temperature swings like this
for millions of years. But, how could that possibly ever happen without us
lousy stinking humans being the cause of it... we didn't even exist on this
planet throughout most of it? Obviously, even the most feeble minded of us
should begin to catch on that we are just being fed another load of bull****

The news media, and "The Discovery Channel" have pretty compelling evidence

(
http://search.discovery.com/search?q=Global+warming&site=wwwContent&proxystyle sheet=wwwMain&num=10&client=wwwMain&output=xml_no_ dtd&getfields=*&filter=1&through=dcom|searchbox )

(Or www.google.com )

contrary to what you say Bob. Indeed the planet is as hot as it has EVER
been in over 400 hundred years. It just makes sense with the billions of
souls on this planet, using fossil fuels, is gonna release harmful gasses.
How many freakin people do you think we can fit on this planet before it
starts healing itself?? We level every natural area for new construction,
fill in swamps, take out a whole woods so we can run an overpass thru it. On
and on and on... Makes me sick with all the empty buildings just sitting
there, and the large corporations think they need a brand new shiny building
at the expense of our trees, that actually eat up Carbon Monoxide which is
directly linked to "Global Warming".
Why are so many animals on the extinct list now?? NO HABITAT!

I believe you are right though partly... It's been going on for millions of
years, BUT it's not due in the natural cycle of things yet. What do you
think triggered the early release of all these gasses? Human activity!
Were not the only cause of it, but we sure in the hell help it along!

As Bush puts it, I look at the "Scientology" of it, look at the actual
facts, and then form my own conclusions, and I conclude, we ARE indeed
having an adverse effect on our beautiful blue planet.... I could give a
crap about political agenda's, I have a brain, I see what's going on around
us, and I can read things objectively and be open minded to the
possibilities, and then I start adding things up.

I'm not being hypocritical, much anyway, but I do more than the average
person though I think. Transferred all of my home lighting to Florescent,
and all switches are activated by motion sensors and turn off after 2
minutes of inactivity. Installed a 90+ furnace and keep thermostat at 66
degrees in winter, and 74 in Summer. And yes, when I'm out fishing, I stop
to pick up litter from others that don't mind trashing the planet. If
everyone would do little things, it would add up to a better place for us
all.

Yes I do drive a fossil fuel guzzling Ford F-250, but I don't have much of a
choice, I haul large amounts of weight for my work, and I pull my boat with
it, other then that, I drive the women and kids around in a 4 banger, which
I traded a Yukon for.

Couldn't it just be possible that you MIGHT actually be wrong Bob? AND if
you are, what if then?

Well, enough of all that, I could go on......

I simply was starting a simple conversation, and never intended to draw out
as much negativity as I have. I just like fishing, conservation, and good
times... The simple things in life. I don't push myself or my views on
others, but I do have an opinion. Isn't that what the core of this group is
about?? A love for nature and fishing?

Well hell guys......

Doug

Doug,
Just as an exercise, look up as many names of the scientists that
claimed we were going into an ice age not too many years back. Compare
their names and the types of evidence they had with the people
claiming we are entering a global warming period.

I"m definately not an alarmist, but I just think it's awfully arrogant of us
to think that we humans, are having NO ill effect on our planet... Millions
of tons of various exhaust go into our atmosphere each and every day.
Heating our homes, electricity from coal to run our homes and businesses,
automotive emmisions, etc...
Even people that weren't believers before, are starting to lean the other
way now with the new compelling evidence.
AFTER we, and the planet, produce more gasses than the planet can consume,
these gasses build up and block the ultraviolet from reaching any further
than into our upper atmosphere, THEN the planet cools. SMOG anyone?

Might not be in our lifetime will we see that, but I do think we'll see our
polar ice caps become sizeably smaller, our oceans rise, and more animals
will become extinct, and our coastal area's will be pushed further back. We
(human's) consume every bit of inhabital area's now, what will happen when
we have 20% less land mass?

Hell, maybe it is all unfounded and I (we), are wrong. But I still feel
better knowing that if it IS true, I am trying to do my part, and if nothing
else, I am still being a contributing factor in making the world a better,
cleaner place.

I know when I leave a fishing hole, I feel better knowing that I picked up
litter around the launch while waiting, or snagging a can on the bottom of
the lake with my Mepp's, and just doing the little things in my home. It
all adds up to a cleaner, better planet. Besides all that, putting all the
Global Warming beliefs behind, if your more efficient in your lifestyle, you
just save money too, and create a better fishing ground for you and the ones
we'll leave behind.

Anyway, I think I'll go flip my 6 inch Chartruese Power Worm in my favorite
pond today, and see what happens. Suppose to reach near 50 and be sunny all
day no wind to speak of. Maybe even try my mostly Red Crank bait. I have
had some luck in early winter on these, so we'll see what happens. I'd like
to fish my favorite lake, but I'm grounded since I've winterized the boat
:-(

Kindest Regards,

Doug

That's the right-wing argument in a nutshell. Global warming
is a "liberal" cause so it must be bull****. "Liberal" has
become such a dirty word in the minds of many that they are
easily misled into believing corporate interests are their
own interests.

Global warming is not a liberal cause it's a real and scary
phenomenon, not that I'd expect you to ever believe that Bob.
