Islands and up North to Santa Barbara :
Catalina had a short shot at some big yellowtail off the Farnsworth
bank, no reports lately from San Clemente and very few reports from up
north. Oh well maybe next week. The Morro Bay albacore remain far
offshore.

Below the Border & La Jolla:
The Coronado Islands produced some spectacular Yellowtail fishing last
week, with the majority of Yellowtail being over 20 lbs. up to 35+
lbs. I went fishing for the first time with John Gottslieve on his
boat "Agila" with friend Rick on Weds., we caught 10 yellowtail all
over 20 lbs. up to 25 lbs. and lost a few bigger models to the rocks.
Most fish were caught slow trolling sardines at North Island with a
few fish caught at the middle grounds on fly lined sardines. Jerry
fished on his boat Sunday at the Coronado islands for a few yellowtail
and a 22 lb. bluefin tuna. Yasser fished on his boat "Proline" with
two crew for 11 quality yellowtail over 20 lbs. Weds. at North Island.
Mel fished Sunday on his boat"Dreamboat" at South Island for five
yellowtail and a bluefin tuna. Curly fished La Jolla Monday with two
newbie friends and caught 4 yellowtail, some bonito, a few lingcod and
red snapper. Ken fished on his boat with a friend from Hungary in La
Jolla Sat. for some real quality bass, saw some yellowtail, but did
not catch any. The 302, 371 and 425 Triangle all produced yellowtail,
Dorado and yellowfin tuna over the weekend.

Local Scene:
ffshore and found the right kelp paddy, you could add dorado to the
count off both Oceanside and San Onofre. Kman fished on his boat
"Trailer Trash" Monday off the Long Beach wall & the Horseshoe for 10
sand bass to 3 lbs., some calico bass, lingcod, red snapper and
assorted other bottom critters. Bob fished with Kevin on his boat
"Fishmankev", his 28' Grady. They worked the area south of the domes
for two nice YT, one 20# and one 15#. John on his boat "KingKong"
fished Monday off the Domes for a toad yellowtail to 35 lbs. slow
trolling sardines. John on his boat "Flomar" fished Sunday in Santa
Monica Bay for several legal Halibut, a bunch of sculpin and sandbass
released. Loren & Mike fished for a few hours on Sunday on Loren's
Skipjack 20 "Anchovy" at some of the local kelp beds off Dana Point
for multiple limits of Calico Bass (all Released) & a bunch of Bonito.
The fishing was wide-open and they busted out with the fly rod & had
blast catching the Bonito & Calico's on the fly.
