Fishing Isle Royale's Inland Waters

Greetings all! I'm planning a trip out to Isle Royale in early
September after Labor Day. I'll be landing in Windigo and doing the
Feldtmann Loop, but clockwise (it seems the usual way of doing it is
counter-clockwise). I plan to spend a single night at each of the
Island Mine, Siskiwit Bay and Feldtmann Lake campsites. Anyway, I'm
hoping to do some fishing while there. I won't be fishing in the big
lake itself, but solely in inland waters. I've been looking for some
information on these waters and it's fairly scarce. I do have
DuFresne's ISLE ROYALE NATIONAL PARK, which has several pages on
fishing the inland waters, as well as comments interspersed throughout
the book on particular waters. And I have the booklet FISHES OF ISLE
ROYALE, which has some useful information. Basically, I'm interested
in five bodies of water.

The first one I'll come to is Caribou Creek, which flows into Siskiwit
Bay near where the trail from Island Mine meets Siskiwit Bay. I know
nothing of this creek, except that it's prominent enough to be named on
my topographical map of Isle Royale (one of only four or five such)
streams.

Shortly beyond that is the Big Siskiwit River. I've seen photos of it
and it is indeed a nice-sized stream for an island. The only reference
to fish in it was from a backpacker who mentioned seeing steelhead
running in it during the month of may. I'm guessing there are brook
trout in there, and perhaps perch. This is actually the stream I'm
most interested in fishing, and it's close to a campsite where I plan
to spend a good twenty-four hours.

Moving on, the next body of water is Feldtmann Lake itself. This is
the body of water about which I have the most information, and I have
high hopes of catching a dinner of northern.

Several maps indicate an outlet from Feldtmann Lake to Rainbow Cove,
which parallels a side trail down to the big lake. How substantial is
this stream? Is it fishable?

Finally, there is Grace Creek, which I'll pass shortly before arriving
back at Windigo. DuFresne mentions its reputation for brook trout.
Depending on how tired I am and how much time I have before I catch the
boat back to Grand Portage on my final day, I may wet a line here.

Does anyone have an information? I'm particularly interested in
hearing from anyone who has fished the Big Siskiwit River.
