Chesil Beach
I`m from `up north` and will be fishing the above for the first time this
July. Is it possible to catch a Trigger this early and what are the chances of a Black Bream from the shore? Also thinking of trying Portland for Wrasse and was wondering if float tactics or bottom fishing was best .. TIA, Paul |

The Adelaide might be worth trying. of a Black Bream from the shore? Small to medium ones, yes. If you just want one to 'tick' the species the Weymouth's Stone pier would be a better bet. The fossil forest (if it's open when you're here) is a better bet for a big one. Also thinking of trying Portland for Wrasse and was wondering if float tactics or bottom fishing was best In general, float is more likely to come back and you'll get a lot of wrasse but for a real big fish the bottom is better. The bottom on Portland is very rough though, boulders as big as a house or more. In general the Chesil is not an easy venue. A great many visiting anglers come back dissappointed but somehow a few locals get some remarkable catches and the same guys turn up trumps time after time. Don't forget to bring a few plugs and spinners along with the float gear (and include some smallish floats) and work dawn and dusk. If you can get around there are a lot of other venues in the area.
