Default off for bass on the Lleyn

Hi folks we are off to N Wales in a couple of weeks for my annual worm
drowning but this year I bought a couple of Bass rods bigger reels etc
rather than my usual use the carp rod method ( which is less sucessful than
David Coulthard ) and fly rod yep I do better with fly!! . So armed with 3
oz leads 20lb main line then what? I was planning on using rag and frozen
sandeels so would 4-1s hooks and 10 lb cast be about right? we'll be over
fairly clear sand so what would be a favourite rig as you can tell I'm not
well genned up on beach work all my 'serious' lol sea fishing was on boats
about 25 years ago and these days I fly fish for trout when I get the time
not often enough IMO

If you'll be on neaps you'll probably still do better with fly. Try spinners
too.

Main line's a bit heavy. Take a few 6/0 hooks, use the rag to catch a wrasse or
similar and then fish a half or split-whole wrasse of around 6 oz. Freeline
in the margins or use just enough lead to take it to the bottom on the edge
of a channel. A whole joey mackerel is a good substitue if you can get it.

A short shanked 4/0 is about right for peeler crab.

Cheerio,

Um, rather small and fragile. You might hang one under a float to some
purpose but by a joey I mean something up to 6oz.

thanks for that I'll bear it in mind we were planning to do some float
fishing of the rocks as well depending on conditions of course. Last time
out we were plagued by festoons of weed so I'll be more careful in choice
of mark as well
