Having enjoyed a few claves I enjoyed reading historian Bil Gilbert"s story
of the first western clave. He wrote-
"They did very well trapping in virgin streams.[ In a single season Jed
Smith took 668 pelts worth about $4,000 ]. To keep them working in the
mountains, Ashley devised what became one of the most famous of all American
institutions, the trappers rendezvous, the first of which was held in 1825
on Henry's Fork of the Green River."
The men were encouraged to bring along to the rendezvous, for trade and
frolic, any friendly indians or free trappers they might encounter----
he did not mention whether they had a single malt tasting night or greasy
eggs for breakfast.

apostrophe in "Henrys Fork". g
