Nice. #2 you say? Sounds experimental. Better look close and make sure
it isn't #12.

I'm working on a new toy, these are old pics:

I haven't had my camera for a while, but the hull is now completely on
and prepped, I am waiting for my order of fiberglass and epoxy...

The Monks are fellow Bainbridge islanders, and the familiy are multi
generation naval architects. The current Edwin's father's designs for
sailboats are Northwest classics. Monk designed sailboats are
treasured. The Monks, and Nickham & Spaulding are part of a long sea
going tradition in the Pacific NW

The last wooden sailing merchant ships were built here on the Island
when most of the Western world had already turned to steel. Our wood,
old growth douglas fir and alaskan Wellow cedar, was/is perfect for
wooden boats and ships. A neighbor, now deceased, worked as a hole
driller for Hall Bros, he said. The last wooden sailing ship out of
Eagle Harbor was in '36 or '38, and 13 boys dropped out of school,
sewed sea bags joined as crew and took a load of timber out to
Austrailia I think, or maybe it was hawaii. I knew the last of these
men alive. He was a wirey, tough old socialist, lived off his garden
and the beach, and spoke up for justice quite regularly.
