Default need rod advice

I'm planning on ordering the Shimano Spirex/Bionic blade spin combo from
Bass Pro. I have the Bionic blade casting rod and love it. I plan on using
8lb line and using it for small crankbaits & maybe small jigs & worms. I'm
not sure whether to get the med or light rod. I'm leaning towards the light
action but don't want a noodle. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks, Mike

The 'weight' of rod that you get is dependent on the weight of lure you
intend to cast. The 'action' of a rod determines it's stiffness. If you
intend on casting crankbaits most people choose a medium action rod; for
worms and jigs most choose a fast action. If I had to choose one rod to do
all three, I would choose a fast action rod. Find out what the weights of
the lures you're using are, look at the weight range on the rods and choose
the one that fits your lures. If you choose too light a rod you run the
risk of ruining the tip, if you choose too heavy a rod you won't be able to
cast quite as far.
