There's a 17 year locust hatch going on back east right now.
I've been getting emails and hearing reports about epic
fishing in central Pennsylvania: 27" brown trout from
small streams, 100 fish days on bigger rivers,
with dozens of fish over 16"...etc

For instance, this one from two days ago:

It's a minor miracle anybody does, given my compulsive
foot in mouth disease. It's afflicted me since childhood.
And now that I'm a month away from 60, my only solace
is knowing there's no changing it now. Just gotta go
with the flow and see what happens next.
:-)

I fished it a few weeks ago in the Milmont and Coburn areas. I believe it
was better on the streams south of there but a cicadia bounced along the
banks and under trees drew lots of fish interest. I didn't catch any over
18" but it was interesting and fun at the same time.

Right, There have been a few posts. I fished Spring Creek above
Fishermans Paradise (near State College PA)a couple of weeks ago.
Basically, you walk up stream until the Cicadas get so loud you can't
hear yourself think. Then, cast to the banks and bingo. If you
weren't fishing the banks you were fishing, if you were fishing the
banks then you were catching. Then popular pattern was one designed by
Greg Hoover, an entomologist from Penn State Extension.
