Which rod should I get for fishing the SRQ/Tampa Bay area?
Ross,
Why don't you just get the guides replaced. I have had it done on more the one occasion. There are many places around tampa tha build costom rods. Any of them would be happy to do it for you. I would guess for alot less then a new rod. If you are determined to buy a new rod i would send you to Dogfish Tackle Shop at 17477 Gulf Boulevard Redington Shores, Florida 33778 (727) 392-6644. http://www.dogfishtacklecompany.com They would even be happy to fix the rod you have. "Ross" wrote in message om... HI guys, I'm hoping one of the more knowlegeable individuals on this board can give me a bit of advice. I've currently got a Penn 710z spinning reel (which has lasted forever!) and a 7' Kunnan "Tournament Series" graphite rod. Unfortuanetly my Kunnan rod has lost two of the ceramic rings that are inside the eyelets. If I'm not mistaken I believe the rod came with a lifetime warranty. From what I've read it seems like Kunnan is out of business (warehouse fire??) so I guess I'm out of luck as far as the warranty goes. Oh well. So now I'm looking for suggestions on what rod to use to replacement? I'd like to find a rod that best suites a person whom is going to do a little bit of surf fishing on the gulfside beaches, peir fishing, stuff in the bay, etc. I don't see myself taking this thing on a boat out in the gulf. I'd like to keep the price somewhere around the $100 mark or less. Thanks for any advice!! Ross |
