short TR lakes basin California

I was fishing Salmon creek in the Lakes Basin (near the Sierra Buttes)...
not much in the way of size but lots of trout. Anyway, I caught the
smallest fish I'd EVER caught. The thing couldn't have been more than 1.5"
long. Caught it on a #20 caddis. I didn't know I had it on, so the poor
guy flew back for a false cast or two before I thought, hmm... line's just a
touch heavy... ech.

No luck at all at Sardine, Gold, Packer lakes (some bait and some fly). Did
the hike up to the Sierra Buttes lookout, AMAZING, though a serious all
uphill haul. What a view! I actually didn't make it up all the way to the
lookout, as the glorified ladders they call "stairs" gave me vertigo, but
even from where I was a hundred feet or so short it was striking3

The Subaru wagon was PACKED with stuff as we had a couple of freeloaders
(niece and nephew), so it was either the guitar or the waders stayed home...
this time the guitar came along... so I'll have to wait until next time to
fish the section of the Feather River near Graegle. I'm planning on an
August or Sept trip, assuming the flows will still be good up that way.

Weather was beautiful.
