I made the mistake of filling out a card for a "free drawing" from
these folks at a flyfishing show a few years ago. Since then, I
receive snail mail from them a few times a year. Jo knows to chuck it
in the circular file. It's Jurasic fishing. Only the very wealthy
need aply. d;o(

The fly-casting "challenge course" sounds silly as **** but
I'm not opposed in principle to private fishing retreats. A
nice little cabin located on a stretch of famous water for
$440 grand sounds expensive as hell but if four guys chipped
in $110 grand apiece ? I mean, that's not way beyond the pale
for some of the roffians.

Not that I'm interested myself, just sayin' ...

Well, there ARE still alternatives available. One COULD, for example,
go Eco Fishing in Romania. In either case, I suspect Mr. Lincoln was
right.....for those who like that sort of thing, that's just the sort
of thing they like.

his arteries, his kidneys, his brain, his knees, and sundry other
parts of dubious worth in many a fine locale much closer to
home.....for years.

For a week in that place, I could buy a trailer and travel the country
for a couple of years, with a fishing license in each state I travel
through (except Kansas, ain't gonna fish in Kansas. One must have his
standards).

I've got an old book (40s or 50s vintage, if memory serves)lying about
somewhere in the piles, a guide to fishing in all 48 states. Don't
remember the particulars or the precise wording, but the author
claimed that Indiana enjoyed to poorest fishing in the nation.
Wouldn't know myself, but I don't recall anyone ever telling me about
plans to go fishing in Indiana......um.....yeah, or Kansas

Yo! Good to see you still alive and kickin' - - I hope you and yours
are still doing well; you must be empty nesters by now. Back in June I
drove an RV past y'all, headed down I25 from Cheyenne.

After about a year and a half I finally have a homebuilt wooden boat
ready for a water test...which just this morning we decided will be
tomorrow. It's been ready since about July 4 but finding the time is
another thing. OBROFF of course I will bring my flyrod just in case I
see some tailing or rising carp...pics to follow eventually.

That is really, really exciting! Congratulations! *Love* to see some
pics. Funny timing with the boat. I sold the wooden boat I built and
missed it so badly I could cry. Just to get out I bought a cheap
canoe. Surprisingly, maybe not too surprisingly, I've found so much
joy in that little boat. Almost as if the joy of the thing is that I
don't have to care that much about it, if that makes any sense. Been
out a few times paddling below the beatle-kill pines in the Routt
forest. My near miss with you was during my recent re-reading of
"Many Rivers to Cross", MR Montgomery. Indigenous fish where you'd
least expect them. Pretty sure you've probably read that or been to
the places he describes.

Take good care and I'll be looking for the launch report!

Your pal,

Tim
