Default custom rod

I bought a used rod. It had a label of an old established sporting
goods store. The name of the business carried on (sold) and it turned
into a high end fly fishing store. I use to chat with the man about
fishing but he has since gone out of business. The rod's label had
the inscription "custom". I would therefore assume it is a custom rod.
The eyes are attached with thread and varnished to look like tape. I
can see the cracking in the varnish. The rod was like a giveaway and I
like it's light action so I will probably use it. The label itself
makes it of vintage character. Also the cap has come off the end and I
was wondering how I would replace it. Is there any other tell tale
signs to say it is a custom rod. Thanks
