Default Mepps Spinner Baits & Skirts

Hi,

Just an occasional fisherman, unfortunately, but enjoy it a lot when I
can do it.

Just curious about this.

Have always had my best "luck" with Mepps Spinners that also have the
feather-like skirt.

Funny, the Mepps have always worked for me, but the few Wordens ones
I've tried never had. Sure do look similar, but must be something
different about them ?

Anyway, went to a local pond the other day, and couldn't get a bite or
nibble on any Mepps with a feather skirt.

Tried one without the skirt, just the bare treble hook, and fish after
fish, after fish... Smallmouth and Yellow Perch mainly.

Any thoughts on ?
Why ?

Bob

Bob, where have you been fishing? Which ponds?

I live in Brookline, NH (Just over the Mass border) and grew up in
Quincy. I've been fishing since before I can remember.

If the water is getting warmer the fish may be deeper, buried up in heavy
cover or up under any major features like docks. Not places that open water
in-lines tend to shine.

P.S. I caught my first bass on a Woden's Rooster tail, and caught many more
over they years on them, but I hardly ever fish them anymore in favor of
other stuff. Black with a silver blade, and silver grey (with a tiny hint
of blue I think) with a silver blade were the best colors for bass in 1/6
oz. For trout the bright colors seemed to work better in much smaller
sizes.

From a customer service standpoint I have had issue to deal with the folks
at Woden's before and I was not particularly impressed.
