Anyone hearing of porgies being caught off NE England?

A few weeks back a pal drew my attention to how several had been caught, and
also some escaped, from somewheres around I think it might have been
Eyemouth? Or farther South, I forget the details now.

There was talk at the time of opening up a North Sea Shark fishery, whatever
that'd entail I don't know, apart from fixing up some charter specialists to
pursue thise fish?

There's an autumn run of big porgies off N Scotland - I don't know where
they summer.

Someone would have to put in some time and money working out the grounds and
pioneering the fishery (There should be the odd Bluefin Tuna out there too
btw) - only then would it be possible to tell whether there was a big enough
stock to sustain a fishery.

A huge commercial risk for a charter skipper but something an enthusiast
might try.

Cheerio,

Some guys I know targeted them, successfully, from Whitby this year.

There have also been various reports of sharks being caught their by
commercial fishermen lately.

Tight lines,

Elton
